Austin: The Wedding

I’m continuing to detail our Austin trip today and can’t wait to show you my favorite day of the entire weekend! In case you missed the others, check out what I wore to the Austin bars and our day spent hiking in McKinney Falls State Park.

The Sunday of our trip started very lazy. We slept in after our full itinerary the day before and finally woke up to get some breakfast tacos at a local eatery. After getting dressed back at the hotel, we jumped in our rental car and drove to nearby Kyle, Texas where the wedding was going to be held.

The wedding location was beautiful! The Winfield Inn sits just outside of Kyle yet it feels like you’re in your own little world in the desert somewhere. Surrounded by open fields, the Inn was a beautiful backdrop to an even more stunning wedding.

Our friends Natasha and John are wonderful people and will make an excellent example of marriage for those that choose that path. They come from different ends of the US, met overseas in Spain and have made a lot of tough choices to be together throughout the years.  Natasha’s family is Hindu and John’s is Catholic. I’m sure you’re wondering how the wedding worked. I definitely was!

The event started with a 30 minute Hindu ceremony. I definitely cried a few times throughout this ceremony although I tried to act like it was the wind! :)

Hindu HennaThe wedding program detailed each step of the ceremony including the significance behind each part. I loved how much meaning each moment had.

Hindu wedding ceremonyThe traditional wedding clothing that each family member wore was stunning. However, the bride definitely stole the show!

Hindu WeddingFollowing that ceremony, there was a short break where guests were treated to lemonade and macaroons. Then, we were seated again for a 30 minutes Catholic ceremony. It was lovely to see each family take part in each other’s traditions and I was stunned by the quick changes the bride and groom made between ceremonies!

Kyle, Tx WeddingThe rest of the evening was filled was delicious food (all of the food served at the reception was Indian!), drinks and dancing!

eShatki DressI’m super excited to show you the fun dress I wore to this wedding! This dress is from an online retailer called eShakti.com. The store features a ton of well-made dresses and clothing items, although I have to admit the dresses really steal the show. The dresses are really affordable for the quality (I expect this dress to last for years to come!) but the best part is the level of customization you can make to each dress or piece for only an additional $7.50!

For example, this dress could have become much shorter or much longer – I customized this dress to come above my knee instead of the standard tea length. I could have added sleeves of many different types or even change the neckline. In addition, you put in your custom measurements and it’s made to fit your body. No more trying to decide if you want a dress to fit in the bust or the waist – an issue I have a lot!

A Touch of Warmth

Only in St. Louis does the weather change by about 40 degrees in 12 hours. We had a quick warm spell and I couldn’t wait to let my legs out of tights, skinny jeans, etc. for a bit.

To keep from getting chilled, I wore sleeves and boots.

The funny thing about this outfit is that the dress underneath is a very fitted, businessy sheath dress except for the fact that it’s hot pink. Pair with a chambray button-up and combat boots, it looks more like a ridiculous mini skirt.

I’m also sort of obsessed with this necklace. I’ve worn it a few times already and expect to see more of it! Plus, it’s only $16!

A Trip Home

One of the best things about moving to St. Louis is how close we are to my family (only two hours drive instead of the seven we used to have!). Since moving in September, we’ve been able to visit my family for Christmas, see my baby sister get engaged and, now, celebrate my niece’s second birthday. The year ahead will bring more babies, a wedding and hopefully some other amazing family moments. I’m excited to be able to celebrate them in person.

Last weekend, we made the quick trip to celebrate my niece’s second birthday. Let’s just say, she’s by far the cutest two year old out there. She repeats everything you say (for better or worse), loves playing Hide and Seek and can’t get enough cuddling (I’ve taught her well!).

This is us on the day we celebrated Christmas.

I, of course, forgot my camera for her birthday. I did manage to snap one day of outfit photos despite the bitter cold. Can you tell how cold I am?

Leopard Boutique Penny Earrings

Check out these amazing penny earrings from Leopard Boutique in Webster Groves. They were only $12 and I’ve received compliments every single time I’ve worn them (which has been almost daily)!

Party Time

As I start putting away my Christmas decorations and look back on the holidays, they were pretty awesome this year! Yes, we got snowed into my in-laws in Pennsylvania. Yes, my niece poured her silly cup of milk all over me. But we got to spend lots of great times with friends and family alike!

This is an outfit from a holiday party we went to at a friend’s house. I wanted to do a little more than your standard jeans look but I didn’t want to pull out anything too fancy as it was just a house party where we would play games, drink good drinks and eat good food.

Do you see my new little ombre hair? It’s definitely more directly ombre than my last haircut and I love it!

One Last Cincinnati Photo…

I just found one last Cincinnati photo on my camera and loved the outfit so much I had to share! (I also have long hair in this one!)

“Last” might actually be inaccurate as I’m going to be back in Cincinnati with the fabulous Reality Chic next week, this will be the last ever photo in our old Vine St. digs. After this, St. Louis photos here we come!

Minty Fresh

Have you seen mint everywhere you look?

I certainly have! And while I’m loving the color, I’ve been nervous to buy too many pieces (like jeans) because as we all know, colors can be something that’s in today and out tomorrow.

That was until I saw this gem of a top at TJ Maxx for only $11!!! The flowiness (is that even a word?) was awesome and the buttons to the top were even better. I knew I had to have it! So here’s my first foray into mint. Thoughts?
