STLFW Day Two: Blowing in the Wind

My recap of STLFW continues! Follow more posts here

Day two of the STLFW Blogger Getaway weekend was jam packed full of exciting events (more to come!). The team at ALIVE Magazine put together such an amazing program for all of us (disclosure: my meals and transportation were provided over the weekend but I had such an amazing experience, I’d tell you about it anyway)!

For the day events on day two, I’d decided to go with something a bit more dressy. It was still pretty chilly here so layers were a must!

Well, friends, after a whirlwind weekend attending a slew of Saint Louis Fashion Week events, I’m back to the real world. No more champagne sipping, limo riding, GOMI gossipping or front row sitting.

While my feet recover from wearing six inch heels all weekend, I’ll be sharing my experience with you all right here. It might take me a week or two, but you’ll get the same experiences I had every step along the way (sorry, champagne will be shared in photos only).

To start, I wanted to share my outfit from the first night. Friday evening, we met Heather from Belle Style (more to come) and then went to a fun party at CLR-MNSTR and the new Blue Bird the Boutique.

I’ve been dying for an excuse to wear this polka dot skirt I received c/o Saver’s from the grand opening. I paired it with my trusty purple suede heels and a simple shirt.

And, what would a good event be without a photo opp? Check me out with my good friends Erin and Colin Flynn of Canopi (one of the raddest sponsors of the whole weekend!).

Savers VIP Shopping Event

Last week I was invited to check out an amazing new store called Savers Value Village in Crestwood. I decided to bring out some summer clothes and update them with some leggings and my trusty chambray button-up shirt.

I had never heard of Savers before but quickly learned it’s a resale superstore with some fabulous, affordable finds! As part of the VIP event, they gave me $100 to shop. I was there for about an hour and came away with five dresses, one skirt, three shirts and a necklace that totalled only $88! I can’t wait to show you what I found!

Savers Racks

The store is HUGE! Bigger than even the largest Goodwill and each section is meticulously organized by item and then size.

Savers Shoe Section

The shoe department rivals the size of the shoe section at TJ Maxx.

Savers Discount Shoes

These were a pair of shoes that I would have loved to grab in my size. Alas they were a size 8 I think. If your feet are a little smaller than mine, hop on over there and buy these for $3.99! Yes, $3.99!

Savers Purses

They had purses of all sizes, shapes and styles!

Burberry Pants

The items are a really good mix of items from stores like Forever 21, Ann Taylor LOFT and Target mixed with vintage items, including some designer goods like the Burberry pants. I believe these were only $29.99.

Happy Valentine’s Day {& date night photos}

Happy Valentine’s Day, friends! I hope you’ve got someone you love to snuggle up with and enjoy each others company—dogs, best friends and partners all apply here.

Since I truly enjoy and appreciate the company of each one of you, I just wanted to say I love you all for supporting me and my little site with your comments, likes, visits and tweets!

Today’s photos are from a date night last Friday. We went to a cocktail party with some friends. It’s not too often we have an excuse to pull out a cocktail dress and get drinks together.

I actually bought this dress as a bridesmaid’s dress for my friend’s wedding. Once they arrived, she thought they were a bit more orange than the coral color she was going for. I really liked it so I decided to keep it anyway. I’m glad I did!

(I’m not sure exactly where Bill’s outfit is from but if I can get a rundown from him, I’ll update this!)

Doesn’t he look dapper?

Kate Spade Gramercy Watch

I am IN LOVE! with this Kate Spade Gramercy watch. I mean, IN LOVE! It’s rose gold with this cute perfectly round face with a slightly chunky, but not quite menswear, band. You’ll be seeing a lot more of this watch in the future!

What are your V-Day plans?

Lucky Horseshoe

One of the funny things about taking your own photo most days is that when you’re using a tripod, it can be difficult to perfectly frame a photo. Sometimes I do a little cropping here and there, but in this one I kind of liked how the horseshoe that holds all of the luck above our bedroom entrance sneaked into the photo.

I hope it brings you some luck today!

A Night On The Town

Saturday night, Bill and I had a great evening starting off with an any early play. The play, Good People, was a really interesting looking at the choices we make, morality and poverty. I’d recommend it if it’s playing in your area!

We don’t often go to plays so we decided to get a little dressed up for our night on the town.

I’ve had this dress for so many years I’m not sure anymore where I bought it but I believe I only paid $40 or $50 for it, so it was definitely a good deal that’s lasted me awhile! Paired with a little updo, I felt pretty fancy. I also had a pashmina to keep me warm in the chilly theater.

Easy updo for long hair

This updo was inspired by the amazingly talented Kristen Linares at 13th and Washington. She showed me some simple tricks one night (more to come on that!) and I put them to use on Saturday night. If you’re in the St. Louis area, I highly recommend her skills!
