Dance, dance

Want to know one of my favorite things about summer? Not it’s not the pool or swimsuits or even cookouts. It’s weddings! I love going to weddings and seeing people so in love starting out their lives together. It’s pretty amazing!

We went to a wedding a weekend or so ago and I had a reason to actually get dressed up! I feel like that doesn’t happen too often anymore.

It was about 100 degrees so I went with limited clothing while trying not to draw too much attention for it! :)

It’s all in the details

A lot of outfits would look pretty boring without some of the items’ details. I like this outfit because from a distance it looks pretty standard, but when you get up close, you can take in the bow on the top, the ruffles on the skirt and the chevron pattern on the tights.

How do you add details to your basic outfits?

Military mix-up

I bought this jacket more than a year ago and fell in love. But then I started to think… What can I wear with this? Do I need to wear something high-waisted since it doesn’t cover my full waist? Do I need to continue with the military theme?

Well, in the past I’ve done most of both. When I decided to wear it this time I wanted to mix it up and make it more of a basic staple in the outfit. It was a great, comfortable outfit for more snow!

Equestrian-inspired

Most of my outfits are just pieces that I like without a lot of specific inspirations. However, when I bought this blazer a few weeks ago, I knew an equestrian-inspired look was a must!

New Year’s Eve

Bill and I had such a good time on New Year’s! This was actually our first year spending New Year’s in the same place even though we’ve been together for more than four years. In the past I’ve had quiet nights with friends and family so I was excited to get to experience a big New Year’s Eve party. We went to a local fundraiser party and had a blast. I wish I had photos of the event space but it’s an old theater that was really decked out. I even mentioned to Bill a few times that I felt like I was going to prom, but with the decorations and live music of a prom in a movie that everyone knows real prom isn’t that fancy.

The other thing that made the night so great is that the weather was beautiful! It was about 55 degrees so I bared my white legs and arms and enjoyed not worrying about where to put my coat!
