Ruffles and heels

Usually when I bring out the dress pants it’s because I need to get “dressed up” for work. However, this day I just felt like trading my jeans and dresses for something considered a little more formal. While I agree that this makes me look more business-y, I just don’t like dress pants!

Pulling it all together

If you’ve read this site long, you know I’m a huge fan of keeping in simple. One statement piece and then support pieces around it. However, every once in awhile I like to mix statement pieces for a really noticeable outfit. Whether it’s mixing colors, patterns or accessories, pulling various statement pieces together into one outfit can take your outfit to a whole new level.

Keep the old, embrace the new

No, I’m not talking about friends… but that certainly does apply. I’m talking about mixing old pieces with new. It’s the best way to shop your closet and get more use out of what you have. Sometimes I buy an entire outfit for a specific occasion in one day. But that doesn’t mean that’s the only things with which I can wear those items.

I got another great pair of shoes during my trip to DSW and decided to mix them with some of the oldest pieces in my closet. This top is from early college and this skirt is from college as well.
