May Day Florals

Did you have a lovely May Day full of flowers and baskets of petals and all that? Oh, you didn’t? Yeah… me neither. I actually kind of forgot about May Day until it was over.

Here are some May Day florals nonetheless. This skirt was a total clearance find at Kohl’s and I’m pretty sure the cashier gave me the “really, you’re buying this ugly thing?” look as I checked out. And maybe Bill too.

But I actually sort of feel like it’s a ‘so ugly it’s cute’ kind of piece. Do you have any of those hanging around your closet?

Early Summer Sunshine

Are you having beautiful weather wherever you are? I hope so!

The weather here has been downright beautiful. Maybe even, dare I say it, hot! I’ve loved bringing out my summer dresses (and purchasing some new ones). This dress was a new grab from a short trip home to see my family. I was at TJ Maxx with a friend and as she was trying things on, the print jumped out at me from the rack in the dressing room. I didn’t even try it on and just bought it! At only $14.99, it was a steal!

What have you snagged lately?

Happy Birthday to Me!

I recently celebrated another birthday and while I’m starting to feel like this whole getting old thing is for the birds, I had a great time celebrating with close friends. We did dinner and drinks in my neighborhood and I couldn’t have asked for a better night.

The past few years I’ve made it a tradition to spend the day of my birthday shopping with leftover Christmas and new birthday money. I finally made it to my local Kohl’s (I thought the closest one was about an hour away but found one only 20 minutes from my apartment) and did some serious damage!

This dress and the boots were both birthday shop-o-rama purchases. While I definitely don’t think this was the best angle for this shot (I’m still training him (: ), I may be obsessed with this dress. I got it super cheap given that it’s definitely a summer dress, but I paired it with my warmest leggings and a pair of riding boots to stay warm. I can’t wait to find lots of ways to wear it as the weather warms up.

Old meets new

Have you ever bought something new and immediately knew which ‘old,’ maybe vintage, piece it would pair perfectly with?

One thing I’ve realized over the years of writing this blog is that some of my best outfits come from that line of thinking. In this outfit I had a new pair of heels I was dying to show off. I mixed it with a dress and sweater I’ve had for a long time and added a pearl necklace that I’ve had forever (literally, maybe since I was 12).

A not so basic t-shirt

Continuing with my bright colors trend, I decided to take a standard t-shirt and make it more fun! In the end, I like the way this look turned out.

How have you mixed up basic tees in your wardrobe?
