Onward and Upward

Friends, I have really exciting news!

Tomorrow I’m starting a new day job as director of Social Media at Elasticity. This means new clients, new colleagues and much less travel! I’ll be in and around Saint Louis so much more. Bill can’t wait and I can’t either. As always, I’ll continue to try to keep some separation between what I do here and what I do there, but I couldn’t help but share the news with you!

Mint Shirt in Retro Home

The day I wore this outfit the day I went to my first interview. I was waiting to post it until I learned more but now I can share! :)

Lastly, how amazing is this retro home? My friend Oh, Julia Ann! has the most stunning retro apartment. The building itself is very industrial but the minute you walk in, you’re transported to somewhere mid-60s/mid-70s. It’s fantastic! Thanks, Julia, for taking these lovely photos!

Vintage Plaid

I love when I find an amazing vintage piece. Sometimes that means a perfectly maintained period piece. When you wear it, people know it’s vintage and swoon over how [insert decade] you look. Even better than period pieces, though, I love vintage that is pretty timeless and, while it looks like you could have bought it at a store yesterday, it looks totally different from anything actually available at stores.

When I found this midi length dress, I knew that’s exactly what this piece was. With a current belt and riding boots, this shapeless dress is transformed into a piece I’ll be wearing for years to come.

Even better? This dress was on the rack at Savers for only $12!

STL Bloggers Night Out

One of my favorite things about having moved to St. Louis is the amazing network of bloggers that live here. You’ve met several of my fashion blogger friends, but I’ve also met some fantastic food, parenting and craft bloggers as well. These ladies know how to run a successful blog!

Now that I’m back home from a week in Cincinnati, I get to finally update you on my week of fun!

Some of the STL Bloggers group met at the beautiful Ces & Judy’s catering center for dinner, drinks and lots of laughs!

STL Bloggers

I’m obviously on the left but don’t miss these ladies from left to right:

Yokasta at Get U Moving Fitness, Courtney at Journey of a Dreamer, Clare at Fitting It All In, Christina at Homemade Ocean, Katie at Mom’s Little Running Buddy, Jenny at The Jenny Pincher, Ashley at Eat, Run, Live Happy, Karen at Arch City Homes, and Lindsay at Itz Linz

Pour Yourself a Glass

Not going to lie, my first stop when I arrived was the wine station. Check out this super girly and glittery sign! I will definitely have to reuse this idea for a future girl’s night.

Then we enjoyed some delicious food!

Ces & Judy's STL Bloggers

Of course we all took our time taking photos before we ate. We definitely had some self control given how delicious everything looked and tasted!

Ces & Judy's Dessert

Once we ate, it was time for some devine desserts! With so many fitness bloggers at the event, there was more than enough for me! :) This little bar on the left was like a combination of chocolate chip cookie dough and cheesecake. OMG!

Ces & Judy's

We hung out for about three hours joking about the pros and cons of blogging, convincing our partners to go along with us in our shenanigans and even swapped a few blogging tips! It was so much fun!

I even convinced one of the gals to take my photo! :)

Jean Shorts and Tights

Imitation is the best form of flattery, right? When I saw a post about wearing cut-off jean shorts and tights on Sea of Shoes, I knew I had to try out the look. She features a mix of baggy tops and fitted tops, but all of the tights are slightly translucent and black.

As I was building this outfit for a lovely brunch with some new blogger friends, I wanted to feature my leopard print booties as well!

Next time, I want to try a similar look with a fitted blazer to add more structure. Have you tried this look before?

One Last Warm Day

It’s hard to believe that we’re already feeling the chill of winter as we wake up each morning. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not a huge fan. Once I need to a real coat and gloves to keep my fingers from sticking my steering wheel, I’m over it.

We got really lucky last week with one last warm day. The sun was shining, there wasn’t much of a  breeze and, dare I say it, it was almost hot!

I took the opportunity to enjoy the weather with a sleeveless shirt! Knowing that it was November, I decided I had to ground my outfit in fall a bit with a pair of boots.

Social Media Nerd? Yes, that’s me!

We’ve been in St. Louis for about a month and a half now and I’ve been really trying to get out and meet folks! I love seeing and doing new things, but it’s always sort of awkward to go to networking events when you don’t know a single person. Nevertheless, I forced myself to go to a recent Social Media Club STL Happy Hour to meet some other social media nerds like myself.

I have to be honest – at first, it was downright awful. I was that awkward girl who kept standing near people talking without ever having a good chance to introduce myself. Then, I saw a few other girls that looked like they were near my age and had on some adorable clothes and I took a chance. I went up and introduced myself. Lo and behold! It turned out one of the girls is also a fashion blogger and vintage store owner and is working on getting a group of fashion bloggers together in the city!

We’ve had some amazingly great things happen since we moved here, but this was definitely a higher power helping me out!

She even complimented me on my ‘so ugly it’s cute’ skirt! I knew I grabbed this thing out of my closet for a reason that morning.

Sorry for the weird cropping, etc… I’m still working on taking shots in our new home!

How have you met people after moving somewhere new? I’m up for all the suggestions you have!
