Hotel Living

As I’ve mentioned, when I travel back to Cincinnati I’m often living out of a hotel. It’s not so bad except I’m by myself (read: tripod photos) and hotels aren’t exactly the best places to take photos.

I do like going back to the office though because it gives me extra excuses to get dressed up!

New Year’s Eve 2011

Happy New Year! Did you have a great time ringing in 2012?

Bill and I headed to a local bar to listen to a band rock the night away. We had probably a little too much fun but it was totally worth it! Because we weren’t doing a big party I didn’t want to overdo it for NYE. I added my sparkles in touches with accessories and left the rest pretty simple.

What did you wear for the big night?

Cardigan: ?

Tank: Target

Shorts: Express

Tights: c/o Sock Theory

Leggings for the win!

I’ve been wanting to wear these leggings every day lately. They’re so comfortable, yet with a dress like this I actually look put together! Success!

What’s your go-to comfortable, yet successful outfit?

Sandals: WalMart

It’s all in the details

On days when I feel like I have nothing to wear, I usually go down one of two paths. Some days I just give up and go with jeans and a basic cardigan. Other days, I just decide to mix up two seemingly random items and hope they work. On this day, I definitely did the latter. At first, I thought it was a little odd. Then I started to like it. By the end of the day, I had received lots of compliments and I loved it! I think the reason it worked is because I kept my details smaller and paired everything with a basic black dress.

How do you dress when you’re feeling uninspired by your wardrobe?

Top: H&M

Dress: Cynthia Rowley from TJ Maxx

Boots: Shoegasm NYC

Necklace: Express

It’s all in the details

A lot of outfits would look pretty boring without some of the items’ details. I like this outfit because from a distance it looks pretty standard, but when you get up close, you can take in the bow on the top, the ruffles on the skirt and the chevron pattern on the tights.

How do you add details to your basic outfits?

Top: NY & Company

Skirt: Express

Tights: Target

Heels: Steve Madden Luxe
