Layering It Up

I often get comments from friends that I never wear the same thing twice. While I would love to have the wardrobe to pull that off, it often appears that way. How do I do it? By layering various pieces in new ways each time I wear them keeps my outfits fresh and my wardrobe afforable.

I’ve worn this dress so. many. times. I mean I should probably make a rule I need to wait to wear it again for awhile but I love it. It fits perfectly. It’s unbelievably comfortable. And it’s one of those dresses that I can wear with anything.

Add a key accessory (like a scarf) and it’s a totally different look than if I add a sweater, which is also different from how it looks with a shirt underneath. The list goes on.

When I decided to wear it this week I immediately wanted to look for a new way to wear it. I was in a LBD rut of sorts. Then I realized it would be perfect with this cowl neck dress shirt I don’t wear enough (let’s be honest – I’m just not a business casual girl).

Gateway Quarter

In case I haven’t mentioned it yet, we’ve been looking at LOTS of apartments lately hoping to move downtown. I’d love to live in an area called the Gateway Quarter. It’s a great mix of your fancy downtown and your hipster-esque local scene. I love the organic shops, the great restaurants and the amazing walkability. Bill loves being able to walk to work for the first time since he left Manhattan.

When we were looking at apartments this week, I decided to channel my inner Gateway Quarter and really liked the hipster-ish vibe of this outfit. Super comfortable, great layers, but I look put together!

Snow, anyone?

We got dumped on again and apparently have set a record for one of the snowiest winters in Cincinnati. So glad I moved here just in time for that!

I went for warmth and dry feet and ended up putting together a new outfit in the process! Hope you’re staying warm and dry!

Pulling it together

If you noticed I’ve been feeling sort of uninspired lately it’s not just your imagination. I feel like I’ve been working a lot, not getting enough sleep, fighting off a cold and in general just wearing down. It’s been hard enough to get out of bed lately, let alone put together an outfit.

I’m trying to pull myself back together, while still fighting those cold temps. Some layers definitely helped me get a good start.
