Last Moments of Summer

I just found a few summery photos on my camera that I had to share. For the most part, we’ve moved on to fall weather in Cincinnati but these photos remind me of warm rays on my face…

Pattern Play

If you’re ever hesitant about wearing a specific item because the pattern seems to overtake your body, try layering it underneath solids to tame it a bit and make it more impactful all at the same time. For me, this pattern and the shirt itself was just too big for me so I added a fitted cardigan to pull it back, but also add emphasis to it as well.

Ready for anything

As I mentioned yesterday, weather here has been CRAZY. Layering is my only shot at being ready for anything.

A little ruffled

Somedays you want an outfit that looks put together but isn’t anything too crazy. Sometimes you just want to be comfortable! One of my favorite ways to do this is by wearing jeans and a decorated t-shirt. This shirt wears and feels just like a regular t-shirt, but the ruffles and shoulders make me look like I actually tried! Woohoo! Success!

Back to what I do best

While I really liked my menswear inspired outfit, the next day I grabbed my ruffles and pink without even considering anything else. I guess what they say is true about you can’t avoid who you are!

My color palette

A lot of bloggers and stylish talk about finding your color palette. While I’ve always known which colors looked good on me (magenta/pink) and which did not (kelly green!), I never really sat down and planned out a specific color palette for myself. I never mapped out a mood board of inspirations and fabric swatches. Do people really do that? Some do I guess but I think I have other things to do with my time.

With that said, as I look back at some of my outfit posts, I notice that there are several colors and tones that I wear a lot. I wear lots of jewel tones (pinks, purples and such) and lots of black. Now I know you’re saying to yourself, “Everyone wears lots of black,” and you’re probably right. Like I said, I haven’t sat down to plan this out.

Yesterday I found myself in another pink jewel tone and black outfit. Maybe I should mix it up? Or maybe I should just stick with what I know works? What about you? Do you have a color palette you often wear or do you try to mix it up?
