I’m in PA for the weekend visiting both mine and Bill’s families. One quick note: I just realized that this past Thursday it’s only 30 days until the wedding!!!
Every couple dreams of that perfect honeymoon where they can relax together, explore together and go to amazing places together. Bill and I are definitely dreaming of that type of honeymoon but are realizing that it may not be (read: is in NO way) realistic for this year. We really want to go to Italy but without knowing Bill’s job situation and me just starting my job, it doesn’t make sense. Our goal right now is to go next year as an anniversary.
With that said, we still wanted to take a few days of non-honeymooning to just be a couple before going back to the whirlwind of every day life. Originally we were just going to hang out in the apartment. Then, that turned into going to a bed and breakfast. But, after a little research, the idea of sharing a house with other people just didn’t sound ideal. It would be like living in a dorm all over again. Then, I found cabin rentals!
Turns out that “city people” across the country rent cabins to get away from it all. The more I researched the more I realized that this could be perfect. We could have our own space, there would be lots of things to do (outdoor sports), but we could also find one near a town neither of us had ever been to so we could explore.
I just emailed the Absolute Solitude Log Cabin. It’s beautiful and secluded and we would have our own hot tub, lake and boats!

The outside of the cabin.

The dock with the paddle boat and row boat.

The downstairs of the cabin. Up in the loft is a bed with panoramic views of the wooded areas.
We’re just waiting to hear back so we can book it!
Well, I got to try out my shoes around Bill over the weekend and they didn’t go so well. After all of my family made fun of my for grabbing what are apparently 5+ inch heels, I realized that I was probably at least an inch (if not more) taller than Bill when I was in them. Knowing that it wouldn’t be acceptable, even for shoes that cute, I had to find a new pair.
Right now I’m thinking I’ll be going with this pair.

They aren’t exactly what I’d dreamed of but I really do like them and they are a bit more of an acceptable heel height. Plus, the peep toe pump provides quite a bit more support than the strappy pair I had. Hopefully that means my feet won’t be killing me! We’re looking into whether or not I can order them in black instead of dyeing them.
Ultimately, I’m looking for a pair of classic heels in black, with a heel height of less than 3 1/2″. Any ideas?
Well, I think I finally found a pair of shoes to wear for my wedding! I just found these beauties in the clearance section of my local Nordstrom Rack! I need to be sure that I’m not too tall and that they will be comfortable enough (at least for the ceremony and pictures as I expect to change out of them after that)! Should know by July 4th because Bill will be able to make it to my parents’ for the weekend!

What do you think??
I’m leaving the house now to put 203 save the date cards in the mail. Yes, I do feel like I am keeping the postal service in business. Here’s what they look like!
