My coverage of Fall 2013 Saint Louis Fashion Week continues!
After seeing the ready-to-buy looks at the Fall Into Fashion and Indulge runway shows, the Project Runway show was such a fun departure! Bringing together seven top Project Runway designers (including two from St. Louis!), this show showcased some stunning looks. Some of the designs made me go ‘hmmm’ while others elicited an audible ‘wow’ from the crowd.
I was honored to sit front row and on the stage of The Fabulous Fox Theater for this show. While there were so many wonderful looks, here are my favorites from each designer.
Michael has been my favorite St. Louis designer ever since I saw his work at last season’s GLOW runway show. His “Exquisite Corpse” collection literally sends shivers down my spine. He upped the ante this season by including handmade shoes as well as clothing.
Casanova showcased some very subtle designs with elegant draping. However, his final look that he calls ‘the naked dress’ was a showstopper.
Anthony Ryan’s collection was inspired by the idea if the Americas had never been settled by Europeans – a sort of futuristic American Indian. I was drawn in by great use of detailing and accessories.
April Johnston’s ‘Mangled Courtesan’ collection featured lovely whites and beautiful headpieces.
Viktor Luna’s collection was fun. Period. Swimwear, dogs and bright colors had everyone bobbing their heads as the models walked the runway.
Joshua McKinley showcased Spring looks with bright pops of color and fun accessories like oversized totes and belts.
Last but definitely not least, Laura Kathleen showcased effortlessly chic ensembles in black and gold.
