Weekend Reading: Beautiful Bodies and Wistful Shopping Habits

(via covs97)

It’s time for the next post in my semi-regular series called Weekend Reading where I share what I’m reading, posts I’m loving and, in general, what I’m up to when I’m not blogging.

I just returned from a weeklong trip to Cincinnati so I’ve been catching up on blog posts. Here are two of my favorites that I just had to share with you all:

Beautiful Bodies: Interview with Vahni / Grit and Glamour

by Putting the Ash in Fashion

This post is a little bit older but it’s been on my mind ever since I read it. There’s nothing better than reading one of your favorite bloggers interview another of your favorite bloggers about strong body perceptions and learning how to love your body, flaws and all.

Vahni is open about the times she’s struggled, how she’s sometimes taken her body into her own hands (yes, she admits to having a little work done) and, ultimately, how she has come to love and treat her body with respect. She works hard for that body but does it, not because of the pressures of being a blogger, but because she knows she will feel better because of it. Regardless of your gender, this post is a must read!

In Your Cart

by Man Repeller

On a lighter note, this is by far the most hilarious thing I’ve read online in awhile. But beyond being funny, this piece about gals on a budget who put high end, designer pieces in their shopping cart to feel like they’ve owned this is so, so true. Have you done this? A quick look at the comments leads me to believe the author is not the only girl who wants to ‘own’ a Chanel bag, even if it’s only for 30 minutes. Sit back, relax and be prepared to chuckle along with the piece.
