Weekend Reading: The Happiness Project

Between work and life in general, the weekend is usually my time to relax and catch up on reading books, blogs, etc. That’s what I’m starting a new semi-regular feature called Weekend Reading.

I’ll share what I’m reading, posts I’m loving and, in general, share what I’m up to when I’m not blogging (aka most of the time).

My latest reading obsession has been The Happiness Project. I picked up this book in the Cleveland airport when I was stuck there for a few hours and I’ve been captivated ever since. If you love a little motivation and a lot of random stats, you’ll love this book as much as I do.

The Happiness Project

Just hope your husband will put up with you while you do! :) I’ve already been making Bill and I connect physically (hugs, cuddling, etc.) for at least six seconds a day. According to the book, that’s all it takes to build an emotional connection with someone.

I’ve also started singing aloud more – once again, I’m lucky Bill appreciates random singing. Apparently, singing aloud increases levels of happiness as well!

There’s lots more good stuff in there covering how to make all aspects of your life happier, including free time, loved ones, work, etc.

What are you reading?

  1. While I didn’t know that 6 seconds was what was needed, I once read that we should aim for 7 hugs a day to feel good and connected to people. So even if I’m just hugging the Beau, we try to aim for 7 per day– and I tell you…. the days we don’t? I totally feel it.

    • Hmm I haven’t heard the seven hugs argument but maybe I could combine the two! Seven hugs a day at six seconds each? That surely would do the trick, right? :)

  2. Just happened upon your blog via the Twitter connection! LOVE that you are a reader, as well as a fashion guru. I saw this book and didn’t buy it…but I will now! Sounds like a great, fun read!
I’m currently reading an old classic, “Bonfire of the Vanities” by Tom Wolf. Enjoying it!

    • Thanks, Kim! I highly recommend The Happiness Project!

I’m going to have to check out that book as well now! Thanks for the recommendation.

  3. I read the intro of this book and I’ve been meaning toget it ever since to read the rest of it!!!

  4. Do it, Brianna! It’s been a really great book that I can read a chapter at a time without totally obsessing over it.
