Even though I’ve never lived in NYC, I really don’t feel like a tourist. I’ve been there enough times to relatively know my way around and whenever I visit Bill he tends to get mad if I want do touristy things, so for the past year or so New York has been like a second home. Whenever I go, I end up living as if I lived there for years.
We get up and do Sunday brunch at the local cafe, take a walk to Central Park just to lie in the grass and talk and overall tend to just enjoy each other’s company doing everyday things.
One thing that’s really difficult, though, is to find good shopping that’s off the beaten path. One of those little local places that only true New Yorkers know about.
A few days back I found a great Marie Claire article on some great shopping locations in the city, but I’m sure now those too have become tourist-filled.
Then, today Jessica at What I Wore profiled a little Brooklyn shop called Old Hollywood (they have an adorable Web site). Now, I hate to admit but I’ve never been out of Manhattan by myself and I’m a bit nervous about it but it looks too adorable to pass up! Check out her little write up here.
